LG VX7000 Review
This flagship phone from LG has it all: Twin, full color screens, a rotating camera with video and still image capability, and the ability to send videos to your friends via built-in messaging technology. The VX-7000 is sure to be the star of the show as its improved, user-friendly interface means easier, faster access to messaging and other advanced features, so you won't miss any of the action. Design The phone features a sleek clamshell design with a very large 176 x 220 TFT color display with a stunning 262,000 colors. The outside cover of the handset sports a supplementary 96 x 96 color display that can display photos, images, time, call information, battery and signal strength, and more. A camera flash is located just above this display. The camera unit is located at the top of the phone case and features a unique swiveling design, making it possible to capture self portraits with ease. Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's blue backlit control pad, which features adjustable brightness. Meanwhile, the top right side of the unit houses an antenna while the USB-capable data and charging port is housed on the unit's bottom edge. There's a standard jack to accept universal hands-free headsets on the left side of the handset. Calling Features The LG VX 7000's built-in address book can store up to 500 contacts for quick and easy management of phone numbers and email addresses. The phone comes with 20 built-in polyphonic ringtones plus a vibrating alert. Voice activated dialing makes calling your friends, family and associates as easy as saying their names. There's also support for three-way conference calling support. The speed dialing feature allows you to dial up to 99 numbers virtually instantaneously. A built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear and the VX 7000's GPS location technology pinpoints your exact location when you dial 911. Messaging, Internet and Tools The LG VX7000 features cutting edge support for mobile-to-email video messaging, which allows you to send video clips captured by the phone to email accounts using Apple's Quicktime video codec. Instant messaging, as well as MMS messages that can contain text and pictures, are also supported. When used in combination with the phone's built-in camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging fun. T9 text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile email and text messaging users. Getting on the Internet anywhere is easy with the LG VX7000, as well. The LG VX7000 ships with a calendar and scheduler, a voice memo application with up to 4 minutes of record time, and a notepad. Imaging and Entertainment The LG VX 7000 is a digital imaging and mobile video powerhouse. The 640 x 480 camera features a digital zoom, color effects controls (normal, antique, black and white, negative), a rotating lens for self-portraits and white balance adjustment. The camera can be set to one of three quality levels (low, medium, high) and there's also a shutter self timer. The built-in flash with night mode makes it easier to get quality shots in low-light situations. The VX7000's video department allows it to capture up to 31 15-second video clips in Quicktime format. LG didn't forget to include support for gaming on the VX-7000. The phone is BREW enabled, meaning it supports games written on the BREW platform and many games are available via the Get It Now service. The phone also features customizable fonts and built-in screen backgrounds so you can make your phone reflect your personality. Vital Statistics The LG VX7000 weighs 3.88 ounces and measures 3.69 x 1.89 x 0.98 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 198 minutes of digital talk time, and up to 180 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the CDMA 800 frequency.
